Hoover your rug about once or twice per week with low pressure, be sure not to dammage|break|ruin|vacuum} any of the frills as the suction or bristles can fray the frills out. Sweeping or sweeping your rugs once a week may to get out any fixed in dirt and will help to keep your rugs shine. When shaking your rug, try and go with the lay of the fibres, not against them, this will up keep the feel of the rug and will halt muck being pushed into the fibres.
Beating or shaking your rug outside occasionally may remove the bigger pieces of mud which if left will rub against the material causing extra ware. If you decide to shake your rugs be sure you do so on both side, this will help to increase the amount of dirt removed. Shaking the rug from behind can also help the silk to stand which will give a rejuvinated newer look to the rug.
